Meta's ambitious artificial intelligence (AI) project seems to be facing challenges, as the company has announced that its flagship "Behemoth" AI model's launch will be delayed.
Citing a Wall Street Journal report, Reuters reported that the delay is linked to the AI model's capabilities.
Engineers at Meta are also reportedly struggling to make significant improvements to Behemoth, compelling the tech giant to reconsider its public launch owing to its insignificant advancements.
Behemoth AI was initially set to launch last month alongside Meta's first AI conference for developers. However, the timeline was pushed back to June, which has now been further delayed to the fall or even later.
In April, Meta endorsed Behemoth as one of the smartest large language models (LLMs) globally, designed to serve as a foundational model for future AI developments. Alongside this announcement, Meta also released the latest versions of its Llama series, named Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick.
With the Facebook parent company coping with challenges, the industry will be keeping a close watch on how it addresses concerns regarding Behemoth and when it will finally be ready for public use.
