Once Upon a Katamari announced for Nintendo Switch with October 2025 release

With another installment of the Katamari series on the way, fans have something to be excited about! Nintendo officially announced a brand new game: Once Upon a Katamari in the Nintendo Direct July 2025 showcase. 

The quirky franchise comes back to the Nintendo Switch on October 24, 2025 in puzzle action and nostalgia-packed returns.

As shown in the reveal trailer, Once Upon a Katamari stays true to the series' mechanics of rolling ordinary objects into an even larger Katamari ball, but adds a time travel feature, allowing players to travel through time periods like the Jurassic Period, Ice Age, and ancient Japan to help rebuild the starry sky. 

Nintendo describes it as: "Once Upon a Katamari is a puzzle action-adventure game, with: "enhanced features providing unforgettable gameplay!! You're going to love the brand new support tools such as the magnet which attracts items nearby, customisation features that allow players to fully explore their character style, and you can choose to play as The Prince or one of the 68 cousins, and can change the colours and faces of the cousins." 

One of the biggest reveals from Nintendo is the KatamariBall multiplayer, allowing player vs player online games. This will introduce new levels of engagement for fans of the franchise and may reignite interest in online puzzle games for a new generation of gamers.
