The business sector of Karachi has announced the launch a new airline, Air Karachi, which marks a significant step for Pakistan’s aviation sector. Business tycoon Hanif Gohar confirmed the registration of airline with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the application for a flying license has been submitted to the federal government.

The first phase of the flight would be headed by a former Southern Command official retired Air Vice Marshal Imran, who has also been appointed as CEO. Initially, the investment received for the airline is Rs5 billion, with the contribution of each stakeholder of Rs50 million to the project.

This coincides with the increasing number of new airlines coming to Pakistan’s aviation industry. There are several businesses, such as Jet Green, Q Airways, and Go Green Air, applied for the licenses from Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and they are soon going to start operating in September 2024.

Moreover, Air Indus has applied for attaining permission to fly and resume its operations. According to experts, the growth of the aviation industry would increase foreign exchange and generate new job possibilities.
