Apple is reportedly working on a successor to its Studio Display monitor as reports from credible sources are stepping into the limelight pointing to its not-so-far release window.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new, revamped Studio Display is expected to be launched by 2026. It should be noted that it was first introduced in 2022, alongside the Mac Studio and since then it hasn’t been updated.
Apple’s next Studio Display
The Apple Studio Display has a 5K resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, up to 600nits brightness, a camera, one Thunderbolt 3 port, and three USB-C ports. It is priced at $1,599 in the US.
However, Apple’s upcoming Studio Display refresh is expected to sport mini-LED display technology, Gurman reported, citing a display expert Ross Young.
The mini-LED technology will provide increased brightness and a higher contrast ratio compared to the current Studio Display.
Gurman also confirmed that the Cupertino-based tech giant is testing prototypes of a display codenamed J427, which will be a companion to the upcoming M5 MacBook Pros.
While more details about the new Studio Display are yet to be confirmed, Gurman noted that it will have a similar design to the 2022 model.
Additionally, Bloomberg’s report suggested that the company will likely work on a larger-than-24-inch iMac in the future.
