Similar to Punjab's IT City and other economy-friendly initiatives taken to uplift the country's economy, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) President Atif Ikram Sheikh is aiming the establishment of a Software Technology Park (STP) to raise IT exports.

The FPCCI president believes that the STP will introduce an environment needed for the export of IT and IT-enabled Services (ITeS).

The demand is essential to set aside considering Karachi's infrastructural woes, which the city has been facing for decades. The FPCCI president noted that these problems could prevent Karachi from utilising its potential in IT exports and attracting big-scale investments into the industry.

According to ProPakistani, the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) CEO Abu Bakar earlier visited the FPCCI head office in Karachi to discuss ways to attract substantial investment by assisting business operations, industry, and the trade community to elevate Pakistan's IT exports.

Iterating the federation's stance, Sheikh emphasised that Pakistan is in dire need to widen the stream of its exports, urging that IT sector can spike the country's exports in the shortest possible time.

He also claimed that IT is the only industry in Pakistan which possesses the potential to multiply its exports.
