
In a major diplomatic breakthrough, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made a significant gesture of goodwill towards Pakistan, particularly the Sukkur district, through its Consul General.
During his visit to the Sukkur district council, UAE Consul General Dr Bakheet Ateeq Al-Rumaithi announced that all council members would receive free visas.
UAE consul general visits Sukkur district council
The UAE consul general’s visit was marked by warmth and appreciation, where he expressed gratitude for the impressive illumination in Sukkur on the occasion of UAE's National Day.
Al-Rumaithi highlighted the strong bond between Pakistan and the UAE, noting that their relations are built on mutual love and respect. He also praised Pakistanis, calling them an intelligent nation, with two million Pakistanis residing in the UAE.
He also pointed out that Karachi has the UAE’s largest visa centre in Asia and encouraged Pakistanis to visit the visa centre directly for accurate information, instead of relying on travel agencies.
Women and children's hospital in Sukkur
In addition to announcing the free visa, Al-Rumaithi also shared his plans to establish a women's and children's hospital in Sukkur.
The consul general also highlighted the importance of women's empowerment, citing the significant progress made by women in the UAE.
He noted that a Pakistani woman holds a senior position in the UAE's healthcare sector, showcasing the country's appreciation for Pakistani talent.
Scholarships in UAE for Sukkur students
During the visit, Al-Rumaithi and Sukkur District Council Chairman Syed Kumail Haider Shah also signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs).
As per the MOUs, UAE would grant scholarships to 10 students from the Sukkur district to pursue higher education in the country as well as the construction of the Sukkur Tower Monument.
