The much-awaited Google I/O 2025 is in full swing, meaning it's the best time to watch out for the spotlight on artificial intelligence (AI) for the company’s in-house Gemini AI platform and the Android XR glasseas.

One of the major announcements include the launch of the Gemini's new AI Ultra subscription plan, priced at $250 per month, letting users access the latest AI tools and features.

Google I/O 2025 highlights: Project Aura for Android XR

The company’s Project Aura, a developer kit for Android XR, is designed to enhance the user experience with AI features.

Google announced that all Android XR glasses will feature a camera, microphones, and speakers, with an optional "in-lens display" developed to provide information when needed.

Android XR integration with phones

These glasses will integrate with users' phones, granting access to apps without needing to take smartphones out of pockets.

While unveiling its Android XR glasses to showcase its augmented reality (AR) leap, Google also introduced the Flow app, expanding its video-generation capabilities.

Top features of new Gemini upgrade

The upgraded Gemini will be able to "see and hear what you do," enabling it to understand context, remember important details, and deliver information exactly when needed. It will interface with Google Calendar, Maps, Messages, Photos, Tasks, and Translate. To bring this about, Google is collaborating with brands like Warby Parker and Gentle Monster.

Aside from Android XR headsets, Google is working with XREAL on another device after Samsung’s Project Moohan, which is expected to launch later this year.

The purported device is similar to thick sunglasses, but will allow users to access their favourite Android apps, including those exclusive to XR.
