Google TV is getting a fresh update that will introduce some new features, improved audio, and new ways to explore content.

Users of the platform will soon have a more engaging experience on their smart TVs that comes with the new rollout of Android 16, which includes content pages based on topics and a space-filling audio codec developed by Samsung.

Easier browsing with topic pages

In the latest Google TV update, you will be introduced to new topic pages for movies, shows, and sports. The pages will highlight topical, relevant content and hopefully visual representation for your ease.

Instead of scrolling forever, you can get through assorted categories, making it easier to find something you want to watch.

Android 16 brings new look and smarter features

An important part of this upgrade is the introduction of Android 16 on Google TV. It makes the overall experience more organised and expressive under the Material 3 design update.

Additionally, Android 16 will offer a new tool through its Google Services, called MediaQualityManager, to allow apps to modify video settings to stream content with the best possible picture quality without requiring manual changes.

Improved audio with the Eclipsa codec

Another big upgrade is audio support. Google TV now supports the Eclipsa Audio codec, a spatial audio format co-developed by Samsung and Google.

This means more immersive sound, whether you're watching action movies, shows, or live sports.
