Instagram is reportedly testing a new feature story highlights feature allowing users to view older Instagram stories of the accounts they follow.
The Meta-owned platform has been continuously rolling out new features to enhance user experience. Recently, Instagram also introduced "trial reels," allowing creators to experiment with new content and engage with non-followers.
Instagram’s new story highlights feature
According to recent reports, Instagram’s new feature will allow users to see story highlights from mutual followers for up to a week after they were posted.
The feature will allow users to view unseen story highlights that will appear at the end of the story tray at the top of the feed.
It should be noted that this update will only apply to story highlights that the original poster has saved to their profile and not standard older stories that disappear after 24 hours.
However, users will only be able to access these older story highlights after they have viewed all the current stories from the accounts they follow.
This new feature aims to help users stay updated with their social circle's content amidst the growing number of sponsored posts and online content.
Instagram’s new story highlights feature availability
The new story highlights feature is expected to be rolled out to all Instagram users globally in the coming days.
