The federal government has announced a reduction in the price of petrol by Rs1 per litre. The new price of petrol is now Rs256.13 per litre, down from the previous Rs257.13.
Petrol price in Pakistan is announced by the Ministry of Finance (Finance Division) for the next fortnight starting from February 16.
The Finance Division notified the new prices of the petroleum products after consultations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the summary presented by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (OGRA).
"The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has worked out the consumer prices, based on the price variations in the international market," the Finance Division said in a statement.
The prices of petrol and HSD for the next fortnight, effective from February 16, are accordingly being lowered as follows:

To recall, the government on January 31 had jacked up petrol and diesel prices by Rs1 and Rs7 per litre, respectively.
In Pakistan, fuel prices are reviewed every 15 days to align with global oil market trends and the Pakistani rupee exchange rate against the US dollar.
