After acquiring the Blizzard activation for $69 billion, Microsoft has fired over 2,500 employees. Despite this, Microsoft’s full focus remains on further acquisitions and expansion of its gaming portfolio.

Microsoft gaming head Phil Spencer claimed that the Xbox business has never been healthier. The company is aiming to become a multi-platform development giant rather than remaining solely a console maker.

Spencer expressed confidence regarding the future of Xbox, hinting at its potential developments in handheld gaming.

Microsoft expanding its diversity

Microsoft aims to expand from being just console gaming to mobile gaming markets while being interested in acquiring companies, tech, and talent that align with the gaming goals of the company.

However, there are no investment targets, but the company remains open to opportunities which can strengthen its gaming strategies.

According to Spencer, Microsoft's strategies are to dig into mobile gaming, cloud gaming and making more Xbox exclusives available on PlayStation.

He remarked that the company does not see any problems preventing Xbox games from appearing on other platforms, as the enthusiasm and acquisitions are coming off as insensitive regarding the thousands of employees that were laid off.
