
As the world swiftly embraces a technological revolution, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, took centre stage at LEAP 2025, stressing upon the need for ethical artificial intelligence (AI) governance, data security, and digital accessibility at the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) Ministerial Panel.
The panel, “Shaping the Future of Ethical AI: Multilateral Perspectives on Governance and Risk Management,” was hosted by DCO Secretary General H.E. Deemah Al Yahya and included world leaders to discuss responsible AI implementation.
Fatima emphasised AI's revolutionary impact, encouraged multilateral cooperation, and advocated for resilient compliance frameworks to ensure AI benefits all segments of society.
She further underscored the significance of data privacy and security in AI systems, demanding global partnership to establish responsible AI governance models that prevent discrimination and ensure equal access to digital potential.
In addition, she highlighted how AI can significantly contribute to the economic development of a society to create a more equitable digital future.
She reiterated the country’s unwavering commitment to transparency in digital platforms, advocating for a global governance framework that balances ethical AI deployment with innovation and growth.
While discussing Pakistan's AI strategy, Khawaja highlighted the government's role in developing a comprehensive AI policy for the nation’s advancement while prioritising ethical considerations.
