In a big relief for consumers, the federal government has approved a notable reduction in petroleum product prices effective from October 16, 2025, with petrol prices dipping by Rs5.66 per litre, and high-speed diesel (HSD) down by Rs1.39 per litre.

Kerosene oil has also been reduced by Rs 3.26 per litre, giving much-needed support to the transport sector and lower-income households amid rising inflation.

Updated petrol and diesel rates in Pakistan from October 16

With the price cuts in place, the new petrol rates in Pakistan have been set at Rs263.02 per litre, HSD at Rs275.42 per litre, kerosene at Rs181.71 per litre, and light diesel at Rs162.76 per litre.

The steep reduction in new petrol rates in Pakistan is brought about by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority's (OGRA) fortnightly adjustment to the petroleum prices.

Set to take effect from tomorrow, the updated petrol prices are reportedly in line with the latest petroleum prices in the international market.

Prior to the approval of the current petrol and diesel rates in Pakistan, the OGRA had recommended price cuts based on global market trends and stable currency exchange, providing economic relief to both transporters and households.
