As Pakistan has long been fasting its belt to embrace the launch of the fifth-generation mobile network, it emerged on Friday that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has completed the trials and market assessment for 5G ahead of its rollout across Pakistan.

Citing a statement from the Senate Secretariat, Business Recorder reported that the development around the significant steps towards a smooth and efficient 5G launch was conveyed to the Senate Standing Committee on IT and Telecommunications on Thursday.

“Officials informed that PTA has conducted trials and completed a market assessment for 5G,” read the statement, adding that "the government has constituted an Advisory Committee under the guidance of the finance minister to evaluate the market and spectrum capacity owing to the country’s demands.”

Regarding the hindrances unfolding on the way to the 5G spectrum auction slated to be conducted in April, PTA officials claimed they will be looked after shortly.

The development comes as a testament to PTA's readiness for the full-fledged launch of 5G technology in the country, building excitement on the back of an earlier announcement of 5G spectrum release made by State Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, assuring that it will be offered by May or June this year.
