Over the past few years, PUBG: Battlegrounds, developed by Krafton Inc., has been dominating the gaming sphere with a substantial user base across the globe, now it appears that the creator is about to splurge on future updates to hit greater milestones.

Causing a stir among PUBG freaks on the internet, a recent report claimed that Krafton Inc. is aiming to invest over 200 billion won ($136 million) this year in the development of over a dozen game studios.

Showcasing its sky-high ambitions for upcoming PUBG updates, the company is reportedly planning to incorporate a spark of artificial intelligence (AI) into its years-long diligence towards man-made game development, Bloomberg quoted Kim Changhan, Chief Executive Officer at Krafton Inc., as saying in an interview.

Eyeing to recruit 35 more this year, the PUBG developers have formed a dedicated division —consisting of 80 engineers under Kim’s supervision— of AI and deep learning.

With “ambitious plans to scale” business, the 50-year-old executive and engineer stated that the company has spent around $680 million over the past two years, with most of it going into the acquisition of game studios and startups from Texas to Tokyo.

In a positive indicator of the company's growth magnitude, it's worth noting that Krafton’s shares in Seoul have shot up over 70% since the outset of 2024, as the company reported hitting record-high revenues in straight first three-quarters last year.
