Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has announced a plan to provide 100,000 e-bikes and 50,000 scholarships to students in 2026. During a ceremony at Okara University, CM Punjab announced and distributed scholarship cheques to students.

As a token of appreciation, students presented portraits and photographs to CM during the event.

CM highlighted that the Talented Students Scholarship Programme is the biggest initiative of its kind in the country’s history. “I’m here to speak my heart and to listen to the students,” she said, reinforcing her commitment to education.

She applauded the efforts of education minister Rana Sikander Hayat stating: “He is doing an excellent job. Like a good student, he takes criticism but continues to deliver results.”

She announced that in 2025, 100,000 students across Punjab will be provided e-bikes, while 30,000 students will get scholarships this year, increasing to 50,000 next year.

She explained that these scholarships are not acts of charity but a recognition of students’ merit and potential.

Moreover, she unveiled plans to start the Okara Medical College by 2025 and announced the arrival of the first shipment of laptops under a student support scheme.

Notably, she added that merit was strictly followed in the Talented Students Scholarship Programme, adding that no student was asked about their political affiliations, and no scholarships were awarded based on recommendations.
