Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its most advanced camera smartphone yet, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and a new leak suggests it could outperform the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in photography.

The leaked camera specs, shared by tipster Yogesh Brar, reveal a powerful quad-lens setup, including a massive 200MP periscope zoom lens, which could give Xiaomi an edge in mobile photography.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to be officially announced at MWC 2025 on February 26, with a China launch by the end of February and a global debut in early March 2025.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra quad-camera system: What to expect?

According to the leak, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will feature four powerful cameras, optimised for different shooting scenarios:

  • 50MP primary camera: A Sony LYT-900 1-inch sensor, designed for superior image quality and low-light performance.
  • 50MP ultra-wide camera: A Samsung ISOCELL JN5 sensor, providing improved wide-angle shots.
  • 50MP 3x telephoto camera: A Sony IMX858 sensor, delivering detailed zoomed-in photos.
  • 200MP Periscope zoom camera: A Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor with 4.3x optical zoom, promising exceptional clarity for distant subjects.

How does it compare to Galaxy S25 Ultra?

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra focused more on software enhancements rather than major hardware upgrades, leaving many users disappointed. In contrast, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra seems to be doubling down on hardware innovations, particularly in zoom photography.

Reports suggest that even the Vivo X200 Pro, which uses the same 200MP sensor, outperforms the S25 Ultra in zoom shots, hinting that Xiaomi’s new flagship might do the same.
