YouTube has expanded accessibility to its Communities feature, thereby reducing the reliance on third-party platforms, including Discord, and more for significant user engagement.

Communities feature, launched during the Made for YouTube event last year, is only limited to smartphones. This dedicated social space allows creators to create text posts and add images like X (Formerly Twitter).

To strengthen creator-fan relationships, YouTube is developing an improved and intuitive user experience.

“We’ve been testing Communities with a small group of creators and have heard positive feedback, which is why we’re excited to keep expanding access,” YouTube stated in a blog post.

The latest YouTube upgrade allows content creators to leverage an advanced system through the YouTube Studio app’s Community Hub, allowing them to efficiently oversee channel activity and benefit from artificial intelligence (AI)-powered suggestions for improved audience engagement.

Moreover, YouTube has rebranded its existing Community tab as “Posts” to distinguish between the platform’s interaction features. The launch of Communities is still invitation-based.

It is important to note that select creators will receive notifications through these two channels in the YouTube app:

  • Direct email
  • Banners showcased on their channel page

After receiving the invitation, users can tap on the “Go to Community” prompt, guiding them through the activation process.

Currently, the feature is restricted to select creators, with a wider rollout anticipated shortly upon its successful testing.
