Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch a newer version of the iPad Mini that has a more water-resistant design, which will make it safer for everyday use.

According to Bloomberg's report, Apple plans to make the iPad Mini a strong device that you can easily use without any fear in a wet environment like a bath or a pool area.

Apple has also created a new speaker system for the device that works on vibration-based technology, letting the speaker holes in the iPad Mini be removed; however, removing the speaker holes would reduce areas where water could enter the device.

The current iPad mini lacks an official water resistance rating and should not be exposed to water.

iPad Mini features (expected)

The newer version of the iPad Mini is expected to feature an OLED display, with the update potentially coming soon by 2026. Earlier in 2024, Apple refreshed the iPad mini with the 7th-generation model.

The OLED display technology and improved water resistance are rumoured to be somewhat expensive, and Apple could charge up to $100 more for the upgraded device. The iPad mini is currently priced starting at $499 (approximately Rs140,223 in Pakistan).
