As the overwhelming tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, tech giant Apple has airlifted around 600 tons of iPhones from India to the United States in a bid to evade tariffs.

Reuters reported that the immense load of iPhones moved to the US makes up around 1.5 million units. The company "wanted to beat the tariff," said a source familiar with the matter.

The development comes amid reports churned out by multiple media outlets suggesting that levies have been relaxed by the US president for 90 days.

The iPhone maker recently sped up iPhone manufacturing in India in a bid to get rid of the tariffs under consideration.

Analysts in the smartphone industry foresaw iPhone prices in the US rising, as the company relies heavily on iPhone imports from China—one of the biggest iPhone manufacturing facilities, which is faced with Trump's highest tariff rate of 125%.

The tariff rate on China happens to be nearly five times the 26% levies imposed on India. Unfortunately, China couldn't make the cut on the list of countries which have been granted a temporary respite from US tariffs.
