Apple has released a software upgrade for the second-generation AirPods Pro, the PowerBoats Peo and the Beats Fit Pro.
The upgrade has the devices run on Firmware 6F8, up from 6F7 while the others now run on Firmware 6A326 up from 6A321.
Apple has a habit of disclosing little regarding its Firmware updates, as it only notes “bug fixes and other improvements” alongside the newly released firmware updates.

How to update Firmware on AirPods
Additionally, the company doesn’t provide any instructions in particular regarding the installation of such updates. However, these upgrades install automatically over the air as the Airpods or Beats are connected to an iOS device.
To trigger this, the AirPods or Beats need to be placed in their case, connected to a power source and paired with an iOS device or Mac. This should force the update.
To know about the firmware an AirPods is running on, do the following:
- Connect the AirPods to an iOS device.
- Launch the Settings app.
- Tap on General.
- Tap on About.
- Tap on AirPods.
- View the number next to Firmware Version.
