
Apple's developers conference, Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2024), is gaining traction to witness the addition of countless features and functional enhancements for various Apple products.
Amid the abundance of developments happening around Apple iPhone, iOS and MacBooks, the iPhone maker is said to be developing a new "respiration tracking" feature for the Mindfulness app on its Vision Pro.
The report adds that the feature is expected to be functional in a full-fledged manner during mindfulness session on the app, as per the backend code discovered by MacRumors.

Citing sources of the never-heard-of feature for headset's Mindfulness app, the publication says that the app offers users an immersive meditation experience with the help of both the guided meditations and self-guided sessions.
The app's primary purpose is to abet the headset wearers to be consciously be aware of their breath to support mental wellbeing, as paying heed to one's breathing is usually considered to be the core component of meditation, whose extended sessions are associated with reliable differences in resting respiration rate, as per empirical research.
Respiration tracking on Apple Watch
Many other gadgets, like Apple Watch, are already capable to track respiration rate when users sleep. Apple Watch achieves this feat by using its built-in accelerometer, which measures vibration and movement to determine how many times a person breathes in a minute.
Since Apple Vision Pro too entails an accelerometer, there's no certainty as on whether this hardware, by tracking changes in facial musculature, would be involved in mindfulness sessions.

While it's impossible to say anything with surety on if or when Apple will add this feature to the Mindfulness app, but the tech giant is expected to announce visionOS 2 at its WWDC 2024, slated to kick off on June 10.
