The iPhone maker Apple has finally launched its most updated series of M3 MacBook Air, bringing a 13-inch and a 15-inch model with a bunch of improved areas.

What hands these MacBook Air models superiority over the rest in the lineup is the M3 chip, a better CPU and GPU, an upgraded Neural Engine and up to 2x faster Wi-Fi. Meanwhile, the embedded M3 chip offers support to help connect up to two external displays simultaneously.

The dual external support necessitates that the laptop lid be closed, meaning that you can now have a MacBook Air desk setup with two external displays, but the condition is that the laptop must stay the clamshell position.

In case the lid gets opened, the Air screen will be on and users will only have one active external display, something which makes it resemble with the MacBook Air models with M1 and M2 chips, marking an improvement for the Apple Silicon era of MacBook Air.

M3 MacBook Air specifications

When it comes to specifications, the M3 MacBook Air boasts a faster 8-core CPU paired with up to a 10-core GPU. Apple is touting the new Air as the "top consumer laptop for AI" due to the inclusion of a quicker 16-core Neural Engine. The Wi-Fi capabilities have been improved to support Wi-Fi 6E, allowing for potentially double the download speeds compared to the previous generation.

The overall design of the M3 MacBook Air remains unchanged from the M2 model, featuring a slim bezel screen with a camera notch cutout and a flat-edged chassis. This update provides a solid enhancement for both the 13-inch and 15-inch models.

The 13-inch and 15-inch versions come in midnight, starlight, space gray, and silver. The midnight colour option includes an anodisation seal to reduce visible fingerprints, a feature that was first introduced on the M3 MacBook Pro last autumn.

The 13-inch M2 MacBook Air is still available for purchase at a new reduced price of $999, following the discontinuation of the M1 model.
