The government of Balochistan has initiated the process of computerising birth and death registrations in the province.

The initiative will simplify and accelerate the process of obtaining official birth and death certificates through a contemporary digital system.

NADRA and Balochistan announces digital certification system

Balochistan's Local Government Department, in association with NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority), has linked Bolan Medical Complex and Sandeman Provincial Hospital to the online system.

What this implies is that citizens coming to these hospitals will be able to obtain their birth and death certificates through NADRA safely and in a timely fashion.

The electronic registration system is just part of a broader plan aimed at making the civil registration process, like birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates—more reliable and accessible.

Notably, the update was presented by Secretary of Local Government and Rural Development, Abdul Rauf Baloch, in a high-level meeting that took place on Tuesday.

"Several crucial records have already been digitalised with NADRA's assistance, and additional upgrades are in the works to make the system more robust throughout Balochistan," he stated.

"We want to reduce paperwork and mistakes and provide people both in urban and rural areas access to crucial documents without any delays."

Top officials of the Health Department and NADRA, comprising Health Secretary Mujeebur Rehman Panizai and NADRA Balochistan Director General Naveed Jan Sahibzada, were present at the meeting. They also exchanged ideas on how to enhance the functioning of Union Council offices, which deal with these certificates at the local level.

A formal MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) has been inked between the local government, Department of Health, and NADRA. This collaboration will enable acceleration of the implementation of digital civil registration services across the province.
