The federal government is highly expected to announce a massive decrease in petrol prices in Pakistan, following a drop in international oil prices, triggered by the recent ceasefire between the United States (US), Israel and Iran.
As per sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz has issued special instructions directing concerned ministries to pass on the benefits of lower global oil prices to the public. The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Petroleum have reportedly begun reviewing potential reductions in fuel rates. Authorities plan to make a final decision after monitoring crude prices for the next two days.
Following the announcement of the ceasefire, international petroleum prices have dropped by around 16%, which might have a positive impact on petroleum product prices in Pakistan.
Will federal government decrease petrol price?
Sources claim that the federal government is likely to announce a reduction of Rs30 to Rs60 per litre in Petroleum product prices in Pakistan.
However, Ministry of Finance will announce official rates after the consultation with Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and the premier.
In the last fortnight, the prime minister — addressing citizens — announced a drop in petrol price by Rs80 per litre, setting the petrol price in Pakistan at Rs378 per litre.
