Google Pixel 8 Pro is the latest and greatest in the pixel series, launched on 12 October, 2023. The build quality is pristine with glass back and front (Gorilla Glass Victus 2) and aluminium frame, and it has an IP rating of IP68, which makes it dust and water resistant for up to 30mins at max depth of 1.5m. The whole body weighs 213g.
The device comes with a huge 6.7 inches OLED display that has a max 120Hz refresh rate, and an amazing 1600nits HBM brightness and 2400nits of peak brightness. The display is capable of outputting 1344 x 2992 pixels of resolution, which is coupled with HDR10+ technology.
Android 14 is the standard OS running on the device that is powered by Google Tensor G3 chipset. This chipset boasts a nona-core processor, which can clock up to 3GHz. This CPU is paired with Immortalis-G715s GPU. The RAM and storage department is not far behind with plenty of options that include: 12GB, 128GB; 12GB, 256GB; 12GB, 512GB; and 12GB, 1TB. There’s no support for storage expansion.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro mounts a triple camera setup at the back, with a 50MP wide-angle lens (dual-pixel PDAF, OIS, and multi-zone Laser AF enabled), a 48MP telephoto lens (5x optical zoom, OIS, and dual-pixel PDAF), and a 48MP ultrawide lens (dual-pixel PDAF). Complementary features are aplenty including dual-LED flash, OIS, Ultra-HDR, and pixel shift. Videos can be shot at 4K, 30/60fps and 1080p from 24fps to 240fps, supported by gyro-EIS, OIS, and 10 bit HDR. The front camera is a 10.5MP ultrawide lens with PDAF support and 4K 30/60fps and 1080p 30/60fps video recording features.
The phone draws power from a 5050mAh Li-Ion battery which can be charged by a rapid fast 30W charger and 23W wireless charger. The phone also supports reverse charging. Additional features include: fingerprint (under display, optical), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer, thermometer (skin temperature), and ultra wide-band support.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro comes in Porcelain, Bay, and Obsidian colours.
