Google TV is set to restrict the capability to take screenshots locally on the device with a remapped remote button.
Taking a screenshot is not anything you will be required to do regularly, if ever, on a TV. However, sometimes it does come in handy, users on Android TV and Google TV are allowed to use apps that remap remote buttons to capture a screenshot.
Remapping a key acts as though it is successful, but the screenshot animation never displays, and no screenshot is taken on the device as we verified by looking through the files.

This is apparently a change that Google has made in this latest version of the operating system (OS), as the Android 12 build on Chromecast still supports this functionality.
Why screenshot feature has been removed?
The screenshot restriction functionality itself is not all that useful, and when it is used the user interface (UI) becomes poor. Taking a screenshot through Android Debug Bridge (ADB) commands is technically simpler when it comes to pulling the screenshot anyway, while the ability to remap a remote key for this purpose was a convenient option to have.
It is important to note that Google TV doesn’t appear to be blocking the capability to remap remote buttons entirely.
