The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has imposed a visa ban on Pakistani nationals, citing various concerns ranging from social media activities to criminal incidents. Official documents shared with the Pakistani embassy reveal that the decision was taken following a UAE cabinet meeting.

The UAE raised concerns over some Pakistani nationals engaging in activities deemed inappropriate, including protests and criticism of UAE government policies on social media. These actions reportedly contributed to a negative perception of the country. Misuse of online platforms was highlighted as a key issue in the UAE's decision-making process.

Additionally, allegations of forgery involving identity documents, such as altered identity cards and passports, were cited. Criminal offences, including theft, fraud, begging, prostitution, and drug-related activities, were reportedly more prevalent among Pakistani nationals compared to other expatriate groups.

The UAE government communicated these issues to Pakistan’s ambassador, emphasising that the decision followed thorough deliberations at the highest levels. The Pakistani embassy in the UAE has since forwarded an official report to Islamabad, urging immediate measures to address the highlighted concerns.

The ban has prompted discussions within the Pakistani community in the UAE, many of whom are law-abiding residents contributing to the local economy. There are growing calls for constructive dialogue to mitigate the situation, which has disrupted the lives of thousands of families and businesses reliant on Pakistani workers.
