How to use ChatGPT: A step-by-step guide

Are you a tech enthusiast who is eager to be familiarised with emerging tools and apps? If yes, you must try ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot developed by OpenAI.

It was launched in November 2022 to understand and generate human-like text and a wide range of natural language processing tasks, such as answering questions, providing explanations and engaging in text-based conversations.

ChatGPT is versatile, proving to make life easier as it is not only a conversational partner but also a research assistant, and content generator, and can even code basic websites.

However, to start using the app you must have an OpenAI account first. It can either be a web browser or a mobile app. Once you have an account, log in to it and you can begn. 

Steps to use ChatGPT

  • Log into ChatGPT: The first step is to log in to your account. If you don’t have an account you have to sign up first.
  • Complete OpenAI account sign-up: Sign in by entering your details manually. Click Continue with Google or Microsoft. This will create your account using your email.
  • Third-party sign-in: If you have signed in using third-party authentication, you'll be redirected to a new window. Click Continue and now you can use ChatGPT. 
  • Verify your account: If you signed up by entering your email address, check your inbox. There must be a verification email from OpenAI. By clicking on the provided link in the email you will be redirected to the ChatGPT website, and your account will be activated.
  • Start using ChatGPT: Once all these steps are completed, you can begin your conversation with ChatGPT anytime.
