The rumoured iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch alongside the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models, replacing the Plus model, and bringing a more compact and sleek design to the lineup.
The iPhone 17 Air which is likely to be the slimmest iPhone so far, will serve as a testing ground for future technologies, including those that will eventually lead to Apple's first foldable devices.
iPhone 17 Air design
The iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to feature a thinner battery allowing for a slimmer design utilising Apple’s new electric glue technology.
This battery technology will cause the weight and thickness of the iPhone 17 Air to reduce, creating a lightweight device.
The device is expected to be approximately 2 millimetres thinner than current iPhones, with rumours suggesting a thickness of between 5.5mm and 6.25mm.
The iPhone 17 Air might also not include a SIM tray. This space will keep the device thinner while maintaining the same camera quality, battery life, and overall performance.
iPhone 17 Air features (expected)
The iPhone 17 Air will likely sport a 6.6-inch ProMotion OLED display, a single 48MP camera lens, and a 24MP selfie camera.
The device is also expected to be powered by Apple's A19 chip and come with 8GB of RAM to support Apple's Intelligence AI features.
Additionally, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman noted that the iPhone 17 Air might be one of the first devices to feature Apple's in-house cell modem, codenamed Sinope, which is expected to debut in the iPhone SE 4 this year.
