A new leak has revealed the battery specs of Apple's highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air smartphone, noting that it could feature a battery capacity under 3,000 mAh.

According to Instant Digital, a renowned Weibo user with around 1.4 million followers, the upcoming device is anticipated to have a battery capacity of around 2,800mAh.

Despite the lower capacity, the leak claims that Apple's new Adaptive Power Mode, introduced in iOS 26, will help the iPhone 17 Air maintain full-day battery life for many users.

This power mode is designed to intelligently manage background activity and resource usage based on the user's behaviour, helping offset the limitations of a smaller battery.

Earlier models like the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 also featured sub-3,000 mAh batteries, but Apple typically optimises performance through software and chipset efficiency.

According to a previous report from The Information, the iPhone 17 Air's ultra-thin 5.5mm design has limited internal space for the battery, which may result in worse battery life for some users.

The thin design of the iPhone 17 Air may shorten its battery life. As per the internal testing, compared to other iPhone models, which have an 80 to 90% battery life, only 60 to 70% of users would be able to use the device for an entire day before recharging it.

To address this, Apple is said to be preparing a dedicated battery case for the iPhone 17 Air, marking its first such accessory since the MagSafe Battery Pack.
