Karachiites have once again faced a water shortage of 335 million gallons due to a power disruption at the K-3 pumping station, impacting the lifestyles of citizens in the metropolitan city.
Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP) stated that the water shortage issue began at 12am on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Despite 13 hours of shortage, the cable fault has still not been resolved.
The power disruption at the pumping station has affected the water supply of several areas, which include North Nazimabad, Gulberg Town, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and Scheme 33.
Moreover, different blocks of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, New Karachi, Saddar, and Clifton have also faced water shortage. The pumping station has already temporarily closed for technical repairs, but the issues persisted.
KWSSIP CEO Asad Ullah stated that frequent technical faults are causing electrical power breakdowns at the Dhabeji pumping station.
Earlier, Karachi faced a water shortage as a power breakdown struck the Dhabeji pumping station, disrupting operations in its second phase and impacting a major water supply line. A shortage of 100 million gallons of water was stated due to the closure of the pumps.
