A major water pipeline broke down due to a leakage, which has suspended the water supply for the people of Karachi, along with causing traffic disruptions.
According to officials, due to a leakage in the main line, water pooling from Dalmia to National Stadium Road slowed the flow of traffic and created difficulties for commuters.
Water supply was suspended in different residential and commercial areas, which include Bahadurabad, Tariq Road, Gulistan-e-Johar, and nearby localities.
Officials said that teams were immediately deployed to the impacted site — a 48-inch water pipeline — and were carrying out repairs on an emergency basis, which is expected to be completed as quickly as possible.
The concerned department has directed that administrative measures remain in place until the repair work is completed.
Earlier, a major power breakdown at the Dhabeji pumping station caused the water shortage, severely disrupting water supply to different areas of Karachi.
The breakdown led to the shutdown of four pumps, creating a water shortage of nearly 100 million gallons across the metropolitan city.
