In a major relief for the public, the federal government on Sunday slashed the fuel prices by up to Rs2 per litre in line with the recommendations of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
Similarly, high-speed diesel (HSD) will be available for Rs279.65 per litre, Rs4.79 down from the previous rate of Rs284.44 per litre.
According to the ministry, the new price of petrol is now Rs263.45 per litre, Rs2 down from the previous Rs265.45 per litre.
The new prices will be applicable from Monday (December 1) and remain valid for the next fortnight (till December 15). "The government of Pakistan has revised the prices of petroleum products based on recommendations of OGRA," the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance read.

It should be noted that as the petroleum prices are reduced, household budgets, particularly for low- and middle-income families — who are already struggling with high inflation — will benefit. Petrol is primarily used by in private transportation, small vehicles, rickshaws, and two-wheelers.
