
Microsoft has announced to introduction of a new button on its Windows keyboard, which will invoke the tech giant’s own, recently launched generative AI tool Microsoft Copilot.
The addition of this AI button marks a significant design change taking place in the company’s products after decades of monotony, highlighting the company’s commitment to propel in the sphere of AI.
The button, called “Copilot key”, also underscores the Washington-based company's will to normalise AI-enabled PCs.

Experts and analysts in the industry have lauded the development, saying that the introduction of AI PCs would lead to a resurge in the personal computer market and would dislodge the gloom that settled over the market as a result of the pandemic.
Reflecting on the AI PCs, a research firm Canalys stated that the adoption of AI-driven PCs will observe a boom from 2025 onwards.
In a blog published on the company’s official website, executive vice president and consumer chief marketing officer Yusuf Mehdi maintains that the new button will be seen on many of the new Windows 11 PCs— to be unveiled at the upcoming CES tech show — and upcoming Microsoft’s upcoming Surface devices.
However, Mehdi added that the feature will be available for consumers from late February through spring.
The AI assistant Copilot was introduced in November, and is capable of performing various tasks, such as summarising text and virtual meetings, and much more across Microsoft's web and productivity apps.
