In a bid to secure a share of the enormous buzz generating around ChatGPT's latest artificial intelligence-driven Studio Ghibli style image generator, Midjourney has rolled out its first AI image generator.

Called V7, the AI image generator comes as the first offering from Midjourney in nearly a year and went live around midnight (EST) on Thursday.

"We’re now beginning the alpha-test phase of our new V7 image Model. It’s our smartest, most beautiful, most coherent model yet. Give it a shot and expect updates every week or two for the next two months," the company said in a statement.

While the new Midjourney AI image generator is not the AI developer's version of the immensely popular Ghibli-style image generator, it definitely possesses the capability of producing some eye-catchy, animated pictures like Ghibli-style image generator.

What sets it apart is that users, before getting to put the AI model through the wringer, are required to rate 200 images based on their likes and dislikes for a particular kind of detailing and genre.

Termed a Midjourney “personalisation” profile, this has been made mandatory to create every individual user's unique visual preferences to tailor results accordingly.

To note, V7 stands as Midjourney's first-ever AI model to have enabled personalisation by default.

Once set up, users can activate/deactivate V7 from Midjourney’s website. Users who are members of Midjourney’s Discord server can also switch it on or off on Midjourney's Discord chatbot.
