In a surprising move that jolted entire realm of technology, Ilya Sutskever, the co-founder and chief scientist of OpenAI, has decided to leave the company.
Ilya Sutskever OpenAI quits
The announcement was made via X (formerly known as Twitter), wherein he stated, "After almost a decade, I have made the decision to leave OpenAI. The company’s trajectory has been nothing short of miraculous..."
While his departure from the company brings him to the spotlight, another occasion when Sutskeve came to the limelight was the ouster of Sam Altman which was led by Sutskeve himself.

After a botched attempt to terminate Altman from the ChatGPT maker, he then changed his mind and reinstated Altman as the CEO of OpenAI.
OpenAI new chief scientist
In case you're pondering as to who will now replace the outgoing chief scientist of OpenAI, then Sam Altman probably addressed your concern in a follow post on X.
"Jakub is going to be our new Chief Scientist. Jakub is also easily one of the greatest minds of our generation; I am thrilled he is taking the baton here. He has run many of our most important projects, and I am very confident he will lead us to make rapid and safe progress towards our mission of ensuring that AGI benefits everyone,” Altman writes in his post on X.
What sows a bit of doubt in public's interpretation of this development is that Ilya's retreat from OpenAI appears to be indicating a discreet split which might have occurred in the company, and may have led to disagreements between the leading hierarchy of the world-class AI firm.
“I am excited for what comes next — a project that is very personally meaningful to me about which I will share details in due time,” said Ilya ina separate post on X while reflecting on the prospect he's decided to pursue.
