The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced new Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) prices for January 2025, bringing mixed news for consumers of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).

For SNGPL customers, RLNG prices have dropped. The maximum price for transmission is now $11.72 per MMBtu, down from $11.96 in December, indicating a 1.98% or $0.24 descent.

Similarly, the distribution price of RLNG has been reduced to $12.66 per MMBtu from $12.89, showing a 1.81% dip.

On the other hand, SSGC customers will see a slight increase in RLNG costs, with the transmission price rising to $10.58 per MMBtu from $10.54 in December, marking a 0.44% or $0.46 hike.

Similarly, distribution prices for SSGC customers also climbed to $12.60 per MMBtu, up from $12.54, pointing to an increment of 0.45% or $0.55.

RLNG remains a crucial energy source for Pakistan, playing a vital role in meeting industrial and household energy needs. The revised prices aim to reflect global conditions and maintain balance in domestic markets.

These adjustments align with the global RLNG market, where prices have seen a downward trend in recent months. The stable local currency against the US Dollar has also helped reduce costs for SNGPL consumers, while SSGC adjustments remain minimal.
