The government is expected to hike the petroleum prices again starting February 1 in Pakistan. It is likely to increase petrol by Rs3 per litre.
On the other hand, diesel prices are to be hiked by Rs6 per litre, driven by recent fluctuations in global crude oil prices.
Earlier, the petrol prices increased to Rs256.13 per litre. However, the forthcoming increase in petrol and diesel prices marks a noticeable shift in the fuel pricing trend.
According to the sources, the final decision on these price changes will be made just before the next fortnight begins.
If implemented, the new petrol price is expected to be Rs259.13 per litre, up from the current Rs256.13. Meanwhile, diesel is likely to reach Rs266.95 per litre, increasing from Rs260.95.
In addition to petrol and diesel, other fuels may also experience price hikes. However, no official updates have been provided regarding the prices of kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO).
These anticipated fuel price adjustments will majorly affect consumers across Pakistan as authorities strive to manage the effects of fluctuating international oil prices.
