In line with the rising cost of petroleum products in the international market, the government is reportedly planning to decrease petrol prices, as part of the bi-monthly revision of petroleum products' rates.

The price of petrol in Pakistan is rumoured to be decreased by Rs2.49 per litre effective from February 16.

According to Express News, the decision to lower the prices follows a decrease in crude oil prices in the international market, with the government planning to provide relief to the public.

Notably, if approved by the federal government of Pakistan, the price of petrol will be dropped from Rs257.13 per litre to Rs254.64 per litre.

Additionally, the price of high-speed diesel is set to drop by Rs9.11, setting the new price to Rs258.84 per litre from Rs267.85.

On the other hand, the price of kerosene oil will be reduced by Rs3.45 per litre, while light diesel will see a decrease of Rs5.60 per litre.

Previously, the federal government jacked up the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) and petrol starting from February 1. HSD increased by Rs7 per litre, rising from Rs260.95 to Rs267.95. Petrol saw a Rs1 increase, going from Rs256.13 to Rs257.13 per litre.
