
As the competition between Nintendo and PlayStation consoles has intensified after the recent launch of Nintendo Switch 2, the price of several PlayStation 5 models has been jacked up by the company in select markets globally.
The PS5 price hike, triggered by economic turmoil which took place due to Trump administration's tariffs, has taken the world of handheld gaming by storm, drawing ire from the aid gamer community which is already facing record inflation.
It's worth mentioning that the increased PS5 prices are not announced for the US, but buyers in Europe, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and Africa won't be immune to it.
PS5 Digital Edition new price
After undergoing a 10% price hike, the new price of the PS5 Digital Edition, which lacks a disc drive, in Europe is €499.99, while it will be priced at £429.99 in the UK .
Standard PS5 new price
On the other hand, the price of the standard PS5 with a Blu-ray drive will also be raised in Australia and New Zealand. The company has not announced any changes for markets other than the UK, Europe, Australia and those mentioned above.
Besides increasing the prices of PS5 consoles, Sony has reduced the recommended price for the standalone disc drive.
Apart from that, the revised prices have not been announced for the PS5 Pro, which launched in November with enhanced graphics and performance capabilities.
