Qualcomm launched its new chip, Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, as a significant upgrade over its predecessor, offering robust performance, enhanced efficiency, cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI), and audio for an enhanced user experience.

It's the first chipset in the series to be built on TSMC’s 4nm node, departing from Samsung’s previous 4nm procedure.

The chipset comes with ARMv9-based cores, such as a Cortex-A720 prime core (2.3GHz), three A720 big cores (2.2GHz), and four A520 small cores (1.8GHz), replacing the previous ARMv8 design. Despite the upgrade, the CPU only boosted 11% (Geekbench 5.2 single-thread). However, the latest Adreno GPU offers a 29% performance enhancement, and overall efficiency enhances by 12%.

The recently launched Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is the first in its entire series to be powered by INT4, allowing advanced AI models to run with optimised memory usage. Moreover, it supports up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM (3,200MHz) and UFS 3.1 storage, ensuring fast data access and smooth multitasking.

The chip features up to 1080p+ resolution at 144Hz refresh rate. In addition, it includes Snapdragon Game Super Resolution and Adreno Frame Motion Engine, offering an improved gaming experience.

In terms of camera capabilities, it includes triple 12-bit ISPs, offering 200MP sensors and 4K HDR video recording at 30fps.

For connectivity, the chipset includes support for 5G (sub-6GHz & mmWave) with 2.9Gbps speeds, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 (aptX Adaptive), and triple-frequency GPS.
