Samsung has officially announced its highly anticipated Galaxy XR headset on Wednesday, previously known under its codename, the Samsung Project Moohan headset.

Built in partnership with Google and Qualcomm Technologies, the Galaxy XR headset is powered by Android XR, the first Android platform designed entirely for the Gemini AI era.

Samsung Galaxy XR features

The Galaxy XR headset utilises a multimodal AI system that allows the users to use their natural interaction in the form of voice, vision, or gesture, leading to more of a sense of an intelligent companion rather than a traditional device.

“With Galaxy XR, Samsung is introducing a brand-new ecosystem of mobile devices,” said Samsung Electronics COO of Mobile eXperience Won-Joon Choi. “Built on Android XR, Galaxy XR expands the vision for mobile AI into a new frontier of immersive and meaningful possibilities.”

The Galaxy XR, previously known as the Samsung Project Moohan headset, symbolises “infinity”, which reflects Samsung’s goal to develop endless experiences in virtual reality.

The headset features the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen2 chipset for powerful AI capability, ultra-high-resolution displays, and beautiful spatial audio.

The headset is designed for comfort with a lightweight ergonomic design, a separate battery pack, and a removable light shield for personalised immersion.

Android XR supports OpenXR, WebXR, and Unity for developers and enterprises scaling across XR devices.

Samsung XR headset price in Pakistan

The Samsung Galaxy XR headset is retailing for $1,799 (around Rs509,594), clearly below Apple’s Vision Pro for $3,499 (around Rs991,146).

Samsung hasn't publicly stated an official release date for the XR headset in Pakistan, but it is expected to launch soon.
