Samsung, in partnership with Google, launched the all-new Galaxy Watch for Kids experience on Galaxy Watch7 LTE, powered by Wear OS.
Parents can manage the watch through Google Family Link, which allows them to set the necessary safeguards and personalise their child’s usage of the Galaxy Watch.
With a new Galaxy Watch for Kids, children can use the smartwatch to call and text trusted contacts, while parents can also track their kids’ locations via GPS.
The kids-friendly feature of the Galaxy Watch 7 is also supported on Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T networks, and the best part is that it doesn't necessitate parents to have a separate smartphone to be in charge.
Instead, they can keep tabs on their children's Galaxy Watch activities simply from the Apple Family Setup, which at best requires them to pair their phone and set up the smartwatch before programming guardrails through the Google Family Link app.
Samsung claimed that parents can control which apps can be downloaded on the wearable, locate misplaced watches, and specify their children’s contact lists for texting and calling. In an emergency, kids can also access emergency SOS features by pressing the side button five times.
How to use kids mode on Galaxy Watch
- Setting up Galaxy Watch for Kids is an intuitive process.
- To get started, you’ll pair the Galaxy Watch7 LTE to your phone,
- Select “set-up for a child,” follow the directions to set up features, and then activate the eSIM.
- After setup, a smartphone is no longer required for your child, letting children develop healthy digital habits while learning to use smart devices responsibly.
Google stated that kids can download 20 “teacher approved” apps and watch faces from the kids section of the Google Play store, including Barbie, Marvel, and Rubik’s Cube-themed watch faces and educational games from PBS Kids and Crayola.
However, other third-party apps are available for download but require parental approval.
This new mode streamlines everything into a more accessible format, though it is only limited to the Galaxy Watch7 LTE.
