Samsung users have been waiting for the One UI 7 update, but the rollout has been slower than expected. While Google released Android 15 for its Pixel phones months ago, many Samsung Galaxy devices are still waiting for the update.
However, a new leak suggests that Samsung could launch One UI 8 earlier than expected to compensate for the delay.
One UI 7 delays and possible early One UI 8 release
Samsung has built a strong reputation for fast Android updates, but the One UI 7 rollout has been unusually slow. Reports indicate that the update, based on Android 15, may not reach many Galaxy devices until April or May 2025. This has disappointed many users, especially those with flagship devices like the Galaxy S24 series.
However, well-known tipster Ice Universe suggests that Samsung might launch One UI 8 sooner than expected. The One UI 8 update will be based on Android 16, and if Google follows its schedule, the stable version of Android 16 could be available by Q2 2025. This means Samsung could speed up testing and release One UI 8 earlier than usual to regain users' confidence.
When can users expect One UI 8?
While an early release of One UI 8 sounds promising, users shouldn't expect it before June 2025. Google’s Android 16 update for Pixel devices is rumoured to be ready by June 3, but Samsung will need time to test it before rolling it out. The Galaxy S25 series will likely be the first to receive One UI 8, followed by older Galaxy smartphones in the months after.
