To support local law enforcement efforts and combat crimes, students from Kech district’s Turbat University in Balochistan have marked a groundbreaking achievement by developing a state-of-the-art mobile application called "Shanakht."

This innovative app is designed to provide local police with quick access to vital information on suspects and fugitives.

Mobile app to fight crime

The "Shanakht" app marks a significant milestone in utilising technology for crime prevention in the region.

The app took four months to be developed, and upon completion, it was officially handed over to the District Kech Police.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Kech Rashid-ur-Rehman praised the students' dedication and innovation. He also awarded students certificates as a token of recognition for their hard work and contribution to improving the district’s policing capabilities.

The app is expected to enhance the efficiency and speed of investigations by enabling police to efficiently access detailed records and track suspects.

The Shanakht app will also support law enforcement officers in making informed decisions in real-time.

Notably, this achievement followed in the footsteps of "Talash” app, a similar initiative launched by Sindh police in 2022, which was introduced to combat rising street crimes in Karachi.
