One of the key metrics to assess the efficiency of high-end smartwatches, like the recently launched Apple Watch Series 10, is the incorporation of health monitoring features, something which almost all of the top contenders like the Pixel Watch seem to be bringing about gradually.
Given that, Apple during the Glowtime event yesterday rolled out a new sleep apnea detection feature, equipping its Apple Watch lineup including the latest Apple Watch model.
The new sleep apnea feature will only be released to the Apple Watch Series 10 and the Apple Watch Series 9, as well as the Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Apple Watch Series 10's sleep apnea detection: Devices compatible with the feature
Sleep apnea is a health issue wherein a person experiences suffocated breathing, and the release of this health feature indicates Apple's adamant behaviour towards aligning its Apple Watches more with health-oriented preferences, reducing the delay a patient might have to undergo while heading hospital.
Samsung too has been making strides to integrate the sleep apnea feature into its flagship Galaxy Watch series. Recently, the South Korean giant was granted FDA approval for its implementation in the US. Subsequently, a handful of the Galaxy Watch users in July received the sleep apnea detection alongside the One UI Watch 6 beta.
To make it easier to comprehend for those around the victim, Apple claims that the Apple Health app will display the values of the disturbed breathing in an easy-to-understand way, which the company says was validated by conducting an “unprecedented” study to ensure proper functionality of the sleep apnea detection.
