Prompted by the government's recent announcement of reductions in the buyback rate of solar energy, solar panel prices in Pakistan have reportedly dropped by 25%.

The move is expected to attract non-solar consumers in the country as the prices of the national grid's electricity continue to rise, inflicting additional burden onto the tax-ridden power consumers.

The significant drop in solar energy's buyback price has caused a stir across Pakistan's solar industry, discouraging people who sell excess electricity generated through solar panels to the national grid.

The solar panel prices dipped in various parts of the country, especially in Hyderabad and other areas of Sindh, Pak Observer reported.

Reporting a 25% decline in solar panel prices, retailers highlighted that the price of a Grade-A 585-watt solar panel has fallen from Rs22,000 to approximately Rs16,500.

The decreasing prices have garnered immense interest among citizens for a sustainable electricity alternative.

As per retailers, solar panel prices in Pakistan are expected to fall further as the market continues to respond to the government’s solar energy policy adjustments.
