In a startling turn of events in California, a Tesla Cybertruck sank in a river after the driver reversed the pick-up out of misjudgment, drowning it into the water.

The incident took place earlier this week at the waterfront of Ventura Harbor Village, with the driver luckily managing to escape unharmed.

According to The Express Tribune, the driver considered the Cybertruck to be moving forward and subsequently accelerated the vehicle down a ramp, landing in the harbour.

The drowned Cybertruck was spotted floating in the water by the Ventura Harbor Patrol unit while conducting routine duty. Captain Carson Shevitz of TowBoatUS Ventura explained that the high-end Tesla truck had sunk around 8 feet when the patrol arrived on the site.

“The operator indicated he thought he was in forward, but he was actually in reverse. He accelerated to go up the ramp and went backwards,” said Shevitz.

Fortunately, the truck was rescued by emergency responders, including the Ventura City Fire Department, Ventura Harbor Patrol, US Coast Guard pollution responders, and a game warden from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Elon Musk's Tesla had also sent a field engineer on-site to observe the situation, owing to the possibility of fire eruption from the vehicle's lithium-ion batteries.
