Months after bearing a mark of loss, Apple has overtaken Samsung in the first quarter of 2025 and reclaimed its throne as the world’s leading smartphone brand.
According to data shared by Counterpoint Research’s Market Pulse report, Apple’s strong iPhone 15 sales and a global uptick in demand helped it become the best smartphone brand in the world.
Latin America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East & Africa, and similar emerging markets played a key role in the smartphone market’s 3% year-on-year growth during Q1.
Apple’s reclamation is reportedly propelled by January sales drive and a temporary subsidy it offered in China, which made high-end iPhones more affordable to a wider audience. This strategy enabled the iPhone maker to offset weaker performances in markets like the US and Europe.
Since Apple focused on premium design and hardware-software integration, the iPhone 15 Pro models continued to perform well globally.
Samsung, on the other hand, struggled to retain demand for its mid-range and budget smartphones. Although the Galaxy S24 series underwent slight success, it remained insufficient to be in the lead.
As further comprehensive findings from the full quarterly report are expected, it will be clarified how long Apple will hold on to its crown.
